Moose sightings in the Adirondack Region

It's becoming more rare to encounter these beautiful beasts, Adirondack Moose population has been on the decline in recent years, so much so that it is prompting researchers to conduct population counts over the next three years in New York's Adirondack Mountains.
"The aim is to figure out how many moose we have, where they are, what kind of habitat they're using and whether the population is stable, declining or growing," state wildlife biologist Ed Reed told The Associated Press
They believe shorter winter seasons and the explosion of the tick population have been the cause for the declining numbers. This counting started this past January and will continue until the end of 2017.
